Over the years there have been several modifications to beam vacuum hoses to help increase the durability and overall strength of the product. These redesigned features include a new ergonomic handle design, complete 360 degree swivel at the handle end, increased support structure at the hose ends, & better internal components to combat an electrical short in the switch & switch harness assembly.
The new ergonomic handle design on the beam dolphin style hose & new beam sumo style hose helps alleviate pressure that can come from moving the vacuum back and forth in a repetitive motion.
These handles come standard on all beam electric hoses and other beam standard hoses which only use a low voltage switch to turn the central vac on and off. This relief of pressure while vacuuming spares the soreness that some might feel in their arm and wrist after vacuuming a whole entire home.
Another great feature which has been integrated into the hoses which was not previously available is the 360 degree swivel at the base of the beam hose handle. This feature is great for two reasons. Number one, it alleviates the tension in the hose when it may be coiled up. This allows it to release itself automatically if there is a kink in the hose.
The other reason this feature is handy is because it makes it easier for the homeowner to use the central vac by making it more maneuverable. Past versions of these parts tended to be locked in place by stationary hoses and you had to manually adjust the hose in order to make it properly move along with you.
Increased support structure within the hose itself makes it more rigid and durable. Often times with older hoses you would find cracking and other problems at stress points where the hose hung from the machine. With the design of a more stable support structure, these crushproof hoses are standing up to a lot more wear and tear.
